Elevators/Blonde Moments

Something I have never quite understood about my school is that we have elevators and only two floors. Ok, I understand that those who need wheel chairs need elevators, but having elevators and only two floors does cause problems for me!

Are you ready for Blonde Moment #8?

The Elevator Incident:

It turns out, I don't get along well with elevators. I was on my way to the library and was in a big hurry to get there since I had work soon after. It took me a bit longer to get to the elevator than I had thought, so by the time I got there I was in an even bigger hurry. I made it to the elevator and pressed the 1 button. Waited for the doors to close, and waited..... I waited until started to get worried the elevator was broken. I pressed the 1 button again and kept waiting, I waited until I got even more worried about the function ability of the elevator to the point that all of the horror stories and scenes from movies of elevators breaking down flew through my head.

After pressing the button once again, against the advice of the little voice in my head telling me to run out of there since the doors still hadn't closed, I waited again. By then I think I was on the verge of some sort of crazy anxiety attack. I finally bolted out of there seconds before the doors finally closed. Needless to say I was extremely relieved to not be in the elevator by then. I ended up taking the stairs, because why was I taking the elevator for just one floor anyway? Who knows, I probably thought it would somehow be quicker than the stairs. (It wasn't.)

After I went to the library and had arrived at work, I was dealing with my traumatic experience by trying to think of who I could call. When I started thinking about what I would tell who ever I decided to call, I realized something important. The library is on the second floor. When I got on the elevator, I was already on the first floor. So it makes sense that the elevator would not move if I pressed the 1 button when I was already on the first floor. Imagine the huge face palm moment I imagined in my head! I immediately felt extremely dumb. Let's just say I'm eternally grateful that I didn't call anyone in a panic that the elevator was broken.........
TTFN!!!
